Each placement has reinforced my passion for nursing and my commitment to providing safe, compassionate, and person-centred care. From acute medical settings to mental health and perioperative care, I’ve developed a solid foundation and a deep appreciation for the impact nurses have on patients' lives. I am eager to join a supportive team where I can continue learning, grow in confidence, and contribute meaningfully to patient care. Becoming an RN is more than a career goal, it’s a calling I am proud to pursue with dedication and heart.

Surgical Ward ( 4 Weeks) | 20/10/2025- 14/11/2025

  • Working in surgical wards at Bankstown–Lidcombe Hospital, caring for patients with diverse conditions, including neurological disorders, oncology, renal, endocrinology, and rheumatology.
  • Observing and learning specialised nursing procedures such as chest drain monitoring, syringe driver management (including S8 medications), IV therapy, and complex patient monitoring.

During my clinical placement at Macquarie University Hospital, I worked in the Neurosurgical ward where i engaged in many roles:

  • Postoperative Care: Assisted in postoperative monitoring, managing pain, and medications, and ensuring patient comfort and stability following neurosurgery.

  • Pain Management: Assisted in assessing and managing pain for neurosurgical patients, administering prescribed medications, and implementing pain relief strategies under supervision.

In addition, Macquarie University Hospital has an Outreach program where we follow the journey of patients from day surgery through recovery and onto the ward. We had an excellent time in the preoperative environment when patients were moved to the operating room and brought to the recovery ward after surgery. Here, when they come out of anesthesia, they are monitored closely. Finally, patients may be moved to a general ward for additional recuperation if they feel stable.
