Enrolled Nurse

Goulburn Valley Health
Shepparton, Victoria
04.2012 - 08.2013

During my time at GV Health, I was employed as a Medication Endorsed Enrolled Nurse. I worked hard to learn to be proficient in several different wards, including:

  • Emergency Department
  • Paediactrics
  • Maternity
  • Special Care Nursery
  • Rehab

Working across different wards like this is both challenging and very rewarding. In this dynamic, fast-paced environment, it's vital to draw on experience and skills learned not just in nursing, but from life experience. Much like Lifeblood, where we are always striving to obtain a positive experience, hospital patients don't just need clinical care; it is just as important to provide them with an experience that is as positive as it can be, in what is usually a very stressful time for the patient.

Training and Administration Coordinator

Thales
Benalla, Victoria
01.2002 - 03.2009
  • I was employed as a Training and Administration Coordinator.

For the 7 years I worked at Thales I was able to take on several fascinating roles. These included becoming a Training and Administration Coordinator for a team that used high explosives to manufacture everything from small arms munitions, hand grenades, and large calibre 2000lb bombs.

It was my responsibility to:

  • Write/Improve SOP's and Work Instructions
  • Train new staff, and maintain a training matrix
  • Liaise with Human Resources on behalf of team members
  • Work with orders and fulfilment (both internal and external)
  • Manage a high explosive storage bunker in which I was required to obtain a forklift license to deliver explosives to the manufacturing building as required. It was vital to this role to maintain to the highest degree, very strict quality and safety protocols. This helped to me to transition to Lifebloods own strict quality and safety protocols with ease.

During my time at Thales, I was also able to obtain my Certificate II in Engineering, which I have found invaluable in my extra Lifeblood role as Department Equipment Officer.

Child Care Coordinator

North Shepparton Community House
Shepparton, Victoria
01.1999 - 12.2001

I was a coordinator and team leader for 3 separate childcare programs, including: Vacation care, Occasional care, and Program childcare (caring for children whose families had moved to the area after fleeing Iraq). This role included:

  • Working as the lead carer
  • Program planning
  • Lead liaison, where necessary, with Child Protective Services
  • Balancing all monies taken
  • Training new staff
  • I was also able to learn some very basic Arabic to better communicate with families, and I also managed to resource an Arabic children’s library so that I could read aloud to the children in Arabic
