Had a break from roofing and finally decided it was time to get back on the tools and started working for a builder in which I'm currently still employed too.
Majority of the work involves insurance re-roofs.
Worked for a small sub contracting roofing company that dealt with new builds.
Moved back to Rockhampton and started working for another roofing company where i picked up my asbestos removal licence. By this stage i was doing full re-roofs which included tie downs, removal and re-installation of battens, timber frame upgrades, reading plans, laying sheets, ridge capping, scribing, installing flashings, installing facier and gutter and downpipes as well as erecting edge protection.
Started being handed small jobs to complete on my own. Some new tasks included installing whirly birds, dektites, roof battens, insulation and edge protection.
Worked for another roofing company where i was an offsider for a qualified roof plumber.
Some new skills learnt included cutting and installing flashings, installing ridge capping and installing gutters and downpipes.
Worked as a groundy for a metal roofing company where i learnt all about measuring and cutting sheets as well as transferring offcuts.
Other skills i picked up included scribing and laying sheets though perfecting these techniques was still not achieved by this stage.
