At the ICU
- I perform daily detail ICU rounds during my duty hours and I make decisions on diagnosis and treatment with the guidance of consultants.
- Hourly monitor the patients on the ventilator, insert the central line and carry out emergency Intubations.
- Other duties performed by me include, establishing vascular access (venous & arterial), blood gas analysis, Cardio pulmonary resuscitation and DC shock administration.
At the operating theatre
- Perform pre -operative assessment and prepare the patient for surgery.
Give general and spinal anaesthesia; perform nerve blocks, Intra venous cannulations and epidural blocks as pain relief in the lobour room and in the pain clinic for patient with chronic backache.
- Post -operative management. Post- operative round for post- operative pain relief management.
At the Emergency Unit
- During on calls -Attend to emergency admissions (as the first on call person) .This covers decision making and management at the emergency department, identifying and managing critically ill patients and providing proper care, informing relevant consultants to obtain their plan of management and ensure it’s carried out, and depending on the severity of the cases, direct them to a ward or the ICU.
- During my on call duties I perform life- saving procedures such as air way management including endotracheal intubation and assisted ventilation, establishing vascular access (venous & arterial), pleural/ peritoneal aspiration, etc.
• Duty Hours of the Clinic 3.00 pm to 9.00 pm daily.
• Appropriate History taking, examination and order necessary investigations.
• Review them with investigations, formulate a management plan.
• Maintain a complete patient record and update it regularly with every
changes and visits.
• Prescribing medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to
treat or prevent illness, disease or injury.
• Provide health educations including dietary advice and medications
• Explain and obtain inform Written consent before every procedure and
record them.
• Managing emergency situations with limited resources until transfer the
patient to hospital.
• Carry out minor surgical procedures like wound dressings, suturing of
small lacerations, removal of accessible foreign bodies in skin and soft
tissue, abscess drainage and removal of skin lesions.
• Refer patients to medical specialists or other allied health staff whenever
necessary.
• Formulate a chronic disease management plan and follow up them with
respective specialists.

# Manage patient presented with various medical and surgical problems in the ambulatory area independently.
# Assessment, resuscitation, and management of critically ill patients in the resuscitation area
# Manage trauma patients eg. Road traffic accident, fall from height, assault Perform procedures eg. bedside ultrasound, toilet and suture of lacerations, incision and drainage, manipulation and reduction of fractures/dislocations.
# Transfer the critically ill patients to Tertiary hospital after discussion of relevant consultant.
# Once the patient comes to ward, get the appropriate history and document in BHT and Inform to consultant and managed patients.
# Attend daily ward round with consultant and senior doctors.
# Follow up the investigations and act accordingly.
# Assisted in multiple deliveries and Caesarean Section
# Performed clinical procedures e.g. episiotomy repairs, collection of cervical swabs and insertion of IUDs.
# Attended daily ward rounds with consultant and senior doctors, performed ward jobs and performed clinical procedures such as intravenous cannulation and insertion of in-dwelling catheter insertion
