I'm a passionate early childhood professional with nearly 8 years of experience working within kindergarten programs, early learning centres and inclusion support. My roles have included: co-educator, lead educator (Room Leader), person in day-to-day charge, early childhood teacher and Educational Leader. During this time, I participated in the Assessment & Rating process twice, where our service was awarded EXCEEDING in all seven quality areas in both instances.
Since completing two education placements in primary schools, one with grade 1 and 2 children and the second with grade 6 children, during my studies, I have been excited to explore the possibility of moving from early childhood teaching into primary education. With serious child safety concerns in the early childhood space at the moment, the decision to move away from this work has been a difficult one, but I look forward to growing my knowledge, skills and passion for teaching with new opportunities in primary education.
I sometimes as the Person in day-to-day charge of the Centre in the absence of the Director. In this capacity, my role included:
Working alongside educators, families and a range of allied health professionals to support the inclusion of children with disability and/or complex medical needs into their local community kindergarten program. During this time, I was able to significantly develop my knowledge and practice around inclusive practices, behaviour support and strategies.
