Project description: KIPIC, Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company, is constructing a world-class grassroots refinery in Kuwait with a refining capacity of 615,000 BPSD.

The liquid export terminal, referred to as a sea island, consists of a marine structure that facilitates the safe and reliable mooring and loading of liquid products to ocean-going carriers. This facility is a free-standing, piled structure, and provides space and support for ship-loading equipment. Pipelines, auxiliary equipment, utilities, equipment for the control of loading and shipping operations, accommodations for operations personnel, and access to these same facilities. The liquid products are transferred to the Sea Island via marine pipelines originating from the shore.

  • Conducted surveillance and witness inspection for fit-up, dimensional, weld visual, NDE, and installation inspection of offshore and onshore piping and steel structures as per IFC drawings.
  • Witnessed coating inspections for offshore (topside and flash zone coatings) and onshore in accordance with approved ITPs and applicable codes and standards.
  • Witness, review (batch certificates), and surveillance for material receiving and storage inspection, personnel qualifications, ambient conditions, surface preparation inspections (conductivity, cleanliness, profile, dust level, chloride level, etc.), substrate temperature (preheating), coating application, post-curing, DFT, visual, holiday test, impact test, etc. For fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE) coating pipes, coating in conjunction with cathodic protection at submerged and splash zones, fittings, and pipe spools.
  • Surveillance and witness inspection for receiving, storage, and handling of insulation materials, verification of release for insulation and surface preparation, inspection for thickness and layering of hot and cold insulation, stitching and fastening using wire, inspection for metal cladding, overlapping, banding, sealing, etc.
  • Inspection for the assembly and installation of the sulfur conveying system (belt conveyor) includes the installation of a wet scrubber, magnetic separator, transfer towers, driver units, take-up systems, ground and elevated galleries, fire fighting system, etc.
  • Inspection for the assembly and installation of offshore structures, like structural platforms (mooring, dolphin, sector light, etc.), boat landing structures, fender tripods, bollards, gangways, ladders, caissons, laser lifts, floating pontoons, etc.
  • Pile pipe receiving inspection, inspection for cap beam positioning on piles (before and after welding).

  • Witnessing PQR, WPS, WQT, NDT, fit-up and weld visual inspection for piping, pipeline, and structures; destructive and non-destructive tests; hydrostatic and pneumatic tests; etc. In accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Project Title-1: Corrosion, Scale Monitoring, and Inhibitor Injection Package for SEK 14-GC’s.

  • The project provided a comprehensive package for corrosion and scale monitoring, and inhibitor injection in the following fourteen (14) No’s GC’s at South East Kuwait (SEK), namely GC-1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 19, 20, 21, and 22. The monitoring system was to consist of monitoring access fittings and sampling points. The chemical injection system was to consist of injection points, the installation of chemical injection skids, chemical injection pumps, chemical tanks, and a suitable piping system from pump skids to various injection points. This project involved the installation of transfer pump skids, a suitable piping system to transfer chemicals from the transfer pump skids to all chemical injection tanks, a drain network, instrument air supply lines, chemical shelters, and eye wash and shower units.

Project title-2: New 52” LP and 42” HP fuel gas line from Shuaiba M/F (M/F SH-01) to M/F-‘X’ in Burgan.

  • The project encompasses 14 km of 42-inch pipeline and 14.5 km of 52-inch pipeline, along with their tie-ins by hot tapping and cold cutting, fabrication and installation of jib cranes, pig launcher/receiver, installation of line break valves, and GOVs, etc. The total quantum of welding for 42 inches is 57,000 inches in diameter, and for 52 inches, it is 78,000 inches in diameter, with 20% radiography, 50% hardness, and all related civil, electrical, and instrumentation works.
