• Permanent part-time position in a fast-paced paediatric ward
• Deliver one-on-one care as an Independent Patient Special for adolescents with medically unstable eating disorders
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic, family-centred care
• Build rapport and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families during prolonged admissions
• Actively advocate for patient needs to nursing and medical teams, as well as families
• Assist nurses with patient care, monitoring, and accurate clinical documentation
• Identify and escalate early signs of patient deterioration
• Mentor and support new staff during supernumerary orientation shifts
2023 (3 weeks) - Royal Prince Alfred Hospital - Respiratory Unit
The only clinical placement I completed as a student nurse at the University of Notre Dame.
• Assisted in monitoring respiratory status, including oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, and breath sounds
• Supported patients requiring oxygen therapy, nebulisers, and chest physiotherapy under RN supervision
• Gained experience caring for patients with pneumonia, COPD, asthma, and post-operative respiratory complications
• Assisted with hygiene, mobility, and airway clearance to promote effective breathing and comfort
• Documented observations accurately and communicated changes in patient condition to the nursing team
• Collaborated with registered nurses and allied health staff to deliver safe, evidence-based respiratory care
2024 (2 weeks) - Hornsby Hospital - Orthopaedic Ward
• Assisted with pre- and post-operative care including wound observations, pain assessment, and mobility support
• Monitored vital signs and neurovascular observations under RN supervision
• Supported patients with hygiene, nutrition, and safe mobilisation using mobility aids
• Gained experience in pressure injury prevention, documentation, and teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting
2025 (2 weeks) - Royal North Shore Hospital - Mental Health Outreach Team
• Attended community and hospital appointments with patients, providing ongoing mental health care in home and outpatient settings
• Assisted with the administration of depot injections under RN supervision
• Supported patients living with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression to maintain treatment adherence and daily stability
• Utilised therapeutic communication to build rapport, encourage engagement, and support recovery goals
• Collaborated with the multidisciplinary team to promote patient safety, independence, and holistic care in the community
