In 2009 I designed and maintained by own business as a nail technician for seven years. Becoming a business owner highlighted my ability to self manage, tackle problems to have a successful outcome for both parties, design a business template to gain and maintain clients. Understanding financial processes and keeping records of my budget for the year. Researching current trends to stay up to date with my job requirements. Building and maintaining relationships to form meaningful connections. Gaining further qualifications to achieve business success and stay creative. Although I loved my job I needed a change. My heart was calling me to our country and our young leaders. My previous role as an ACEO (Aboriginal community engagement officer) working with children across two sites. Both primary school level. Creating a safe and inviting culture where kids can feel supported and sponsored to success. I work along side an AET (Aboriginal education teacher) and teachers to design and deliver Aboriginal perspectives across the curriculum. Building a strong connection to families and the local community. Promoting an Aboriginal community voice in education decision making. Also providing advise on the cultural diversity of Aboriginal groups. I am independently driven yet appreciate team efforts and collaboration with successful outcomes. I am looking at changing career for something new and engaging on a different level. My goal is to broaden my experience with my Aboriginal culture and leaders of this nation.
