  • I was responsible for full function management accounting of the two joint venture business units Opticomm and Cygnus
  • Key responsibilities: End of month profit & loss reporting including commentary on variances; Journals, accruals, general ledger reconciliations including bank and intercompany reconciliations; Monthly balance sheet reporting and analysis for joint ventures; Project-based accounting including work in progress; Financial board reports including stock, provisions, slow moving stock and debtors reports; Fixed assets including preparing appropriations for new assets and reporting depreciated values and WIP; Annual budgets and quarterly forecast; Consolidation packs, working capital management and cash flow reporting
  • Key achievements: Created financial reports for Opticomm that facilitated more effective business decisions resulting in doubling sales turnover from $200K to over $20Million year on year since acquisition; Initiated and implemented a procedure in the commercial system to show the profit and loss for a project
  • This resulted in the ability to analyse margins for each project and adjust costs of future projects to make them more profitable

  • My role at Hills was to assist doing overseas import shipment costings for the Antenna Division
  • After 6 months I was given the opportunity to do the profit and loss reporting for Antenna's manufacturing division
  • Key responsibilities: Processing import shipment costings; End of month profit & loss reporting for Antenna manufacturing; Raw material Stock, stock turnover, slowmoving stock & WIP reports; Managing national contract pricing & sales incentives rebates; Journals, accruals & general ledger reconciliations
  • Key achievements: Improved product unit costings by accurately entering shipment costs which resulted in reducing month end variances; Reduced commercial manager's time in reviewing P&L reports by providing detailed analysis of all costs
