Employed as the head of USA Grill'd. The brief was simple, learn the domestic business and then take Grill'd to the USA.
Initially, i was tasked with overseeing the delivery business of Grill'd (circa $100M) and to rebuild the SA restaurants whom were lacking structure, leadership and consequently under performing as a way to fully immerse myself in the Domestic business to be able to build out a business case and launch doc for the USA expansion.
Due to numerous factors the USA expansion has been put on hold. The last 12 months has seen me rebuild the Victorian business (circa $120M in sales), continue to oversee the SA business (circa $15M in sales), travel to the USA and fact check / verify all the assumptions in our launch doc and help stabilise the domestic business.
H1 FY 24 results have seen SA and VIC restaurants go from the bottom 2 performing states to the top 2 performing states in sales V target, sales V LY and EBITDA conversion.
I joined Schnitz as part of a brand new executive team when the previous leadership team had overseen numerous short comings, putting the business in a very precarious position.
2 months from starting, the COVID saga commenced. Being head of operations and procurement / supply chain ensured i had my hands full navigating this unprecedented event.
We succeeded with aplomb, posting a record profit in FY20 / FY21.
ARL is the largest bricks and mortar buying co-operative / franchise group in Australia.
The business houses brands such as: SportsPower, Toyworld, Compleat Angler, Camping World, Mensland and Shoe X.
The business was established in the 1950's and very much stuck with an old-school mindset of retailing.
I was tasked with re-branding, re-launching and modernising the business and its key brands.
