Scott Merrin

Verrierdale,QLD

Summary

My name is Scott Merrin and I have a genuine interest and regularly engage and work in outdoor and adventure sports such as rock climbing canoeing, hiking, surfing, diving and down hill mountain bike riding.

In 2020 I took the plunge and completed the Certificate IV Outdoor Recreation/Guiding at Box Hill Institute. Since then I worked full-time freelancing for outdoor providers based in South Australia and Queensland and with my ongoing love and hunger for knowledge it has now led me to pursue studying a Bachelors degree in this field.

Within the role of group leader, I've taken school groups on multiple multi-day bushwalking expeditions, sea kayaking overnight trips, run problem solving activities and assisted in the management of boat and vehicle logistics in areas such as the Flinders Ranges, the Murray River, the Coorong, the Fleurieu Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and the Sunshine coast hinterland in QLD.

As a leader I am focused on engaging every student to promote self-growth and providing an inclusive environment where everybody can feel safe and respected. I try always to share my love of the outdoors with the next generation and help them leave with a sense of wonder and accomplishment.
