  • Designed, documented and delivered a bespoke paperless (previously 500+ pages per day) workflow management solution using the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office in concert with Base SAS.

  • Replicated, reconciled and documented a series of legacy T-SQL queries, producing an automated reporting solution which reduced report preparation time from one month to less than a single day.

  • Successfully lead a team of analysts to perform a server migration from SAS 9.1.3 to SAS 9.3, requiring significant re-factoring of code and making greater use of metadata. In addition, introduced Development, UAT and SIT environments and processes for migrating code between environments. Implemented a new scheduler and developed Powershell scripts to simplify, reduce complexity and improve consistency when migrating schedules between environments.
  • Designed, developed, reconciled, documented and implemented datasets from a new Claims Management System used for strategic and tactical decision making. Increasing the frequency of the datasets from monthly to daily. Successfully delivered the datasets within 2 months, after a 2 year project failed to produce a reconcilable result.
  • Identified $8.5M leakage within the General Ledger and wrote code to identify and remedy the appropriate transactions.
  • Created a daily reconciliation between the Claims Management System, Accounts Payable\General Ledger Service and the consolidated General Ledger to identify transactions not being processed end to end. Developed exception reports for the vendor to investigate reconciliation issues identified.
  • Nominated for the RACQ Insurance Living the Values - Innovation Award 2011 and 2012. Nominations provided by peers and approved by the Senior Executive Committee.
  • The central point of contact for data related queries for Actuarial, Pricing, Management, Senior Executive Committee, Auditors (both internal and external), APRA, as well as the Insurance Council of Australia and various media outlets.

  • Oversaw the greatest period of growth in the organisations history to become the largest insurer of motor vehicles in Queensland.
  • Lead a team of analysts to implement the organisations pricing and rules engine, reducing the time to implement pricing changes from several days manually to under 2 minutes using an XML uploading process. The rules engine increased the consistency of rules application and risk acceptance. These implementations increased profitability by 11%.
  • Lead a team of analysts to implement a high risk vehicle insurance product and associated pricing model. Allowed the organisation to capture risks which were previously seen as undesirable and rate them separately to ensure profitability.
  • Implemented and priced the "1 free windscreen per year" product.
  • Lead a project team of Pricing Analysts and Actuaries to produce an automated pricing model. Analysis of the solution suggested a review of all vehicles would be undertaken within 20 days as opposed to 7 years manually. The saving in human resources allowed the organisation to be more responsive to constantly changing market conditions, as well as focusing more on competitor and demographic analysis.
