Surfing for the Disabled Program | 2018
During this program I interacted with children, teenagers and adults with both physical and
mental disabilities. I assisted them in learning to surf with a group of other volunteers. It was
a very fulfilling and enlightening experience, in which I furthered my teamworking and
interpersonal skills. I love to surf and help others, so this work came very naturally to me.
The Leo's Club | 2017 - 2018
The Leo's Club was an organisation made available to me through my school, which allowed
me to participate in many community and organisation based fundraisers. During my time in
the Leo's Club I attended meetings, contributed towards fundraising ideas and interacted with
foundations such as Super Max & Bryce Organisation, aimed at supporting Children
undergoing cancer treatment. The fundraisers primarily consisted of both school and Bunnings
based barbecues which all members attended, as well as bake days and clothing sales.
Rosies - Friends on the Street | 2017
Through my work with the Rosie’s organisation, I shared various experiences that allowed me
to interact with members of the community who spend their nights 'sleeping rough'. The chance
to work for this organisation allowed me to gain first-hand experiences which developed my
sense of gratitude. My interactions with the Rosie’s Team involved preparing and distributing
food, serving coffee, conversing with the homeless and participating in group reflections. It
was an extremely rewarding experience as it allowed me to hear the stories of those that are
homeless and the hardships that they have experienced during their lives.
