Determination and resilience are the values I live by. I have always been an energetic and active person passionate and committed to everything I do, be it academics, sports, music or friendships and family. After suffering a chronic knee injury that sidelined me for years, I did not give up, but used it both as a motivating experience, and one which provided me a sense of direction. As well as inspiring me to train harder and represent my school at the highest level, spending so much time with a radiologist and surgeon sparked my fascination in medicine and the body's interesting methods of healing, which has led me down the path I find myself today, studying a Bachelor of Medical Science at Griffith University.
My career goal is to qualify as a doctor and be able to help people return to a happy and healthy life and doing the things they love the most, just as I was able to. I desire to work overseas in disadvantaged communities, particularly in Africa, from where my family originates. Another objective of mine is to make a personal contribution to the field of medical science.
I am a deep and critical thinker who lives to solve problems. As well as this, I have excellent communication and interpersonal skills built up through years of volunteer work, army cadets, captaining sports teams and school leadership teams, and tutoring, and am passionate to put these skills to use in a healthcare environment.
