I have recently returned from serving a full-time two-year mission in the Kenya Nairobi Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This transformative experience has profoundly shaped my understanding of community service and interpersonal relationships, which are vital in any professional setting, particularly within our youth justice system.
Throughout my mission, I developed critical skills such as conflict resolution, active listening, and empathy. These competencies are indispensable when interacting with at-risk youth who often encounter multifaceted challenges. My ability to communicate effectively across different backgrounds will facilitate trust-building and rapport with individuals involved in the justice system, leading to more constructive outcomes.
Moreover, my experiences have instilled a strong sense of social responsibility and advocacy for young people in the community. By leveraging these insights and skills gained during my mission, I am committed to promoting positive change and supporting vulnerable young people within our society.
