I help lead in a mums group, volunteer in Guest Services, Empower Food Relief and Street Team.
I help lead a small group of mums. A big part of my role is communicating and supporting mums in our group. I also lead in setting up and running small events and activities for the group.
My role as a team member of Guest Services is to greet and welcome guests, express warmth and kindness to our visitors. I help people navigate different areas of the church and guiding them to available seats. I also connect guests with the church community.
As a team member of Empower, I volunteer in the Friday fresh produce operations. I assist in organising and distributing fresh produce items that arrive at the facility. We work together as a team to ensure that the fresh produce is ready and available for people who attend the food relief service on Sunday.
My volunteering has strengthened my skills in completing tasks assigned to me, my ability follow instructions, my proficiency to work in diverse areas, providing social and faith-based support, being able to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, committing to roles and involvements, leadership, event planning and community outreach.
I was a team member contracted to One Raffles Quay as a security officer whilst on holidays in Singapore. Tasks include, monitor surveillance cameras, patrolling the premise, respond to incidents and react in a timely manner. I assisted people in need and limiting access to unauthorised people. I also did ad hoc work for some private events. From this I enhanced my critical thinking and emotional awareness skills.
In 2004 I worked as a security officer at Silent Knight Security Services for 4-5 months whilst on holidays in Singapore. I was contracted to Singapore Changi Airport, Terminal 2. I worked in crowd control security and screening of passengers, departing at the international airport. I excelled in my communication and interpersonal skills whilst working here.
In 2003 I worked at Hollywood Nursing Home as a part-time nursing assistant whilst I was in university. I worked with elderly patients in an age care setting. They had both high and low care needs. I learnt empathy, to be a good listener and to be ethical with my work as a carer.
In 2001 I worked as a clerk, it was casual employment whilst I was in university. I completed assigned tasks of photocopying files that had active court proceedings. I learnt efficient organisation.
I was an operations supervisor contracted to Ang Mo Kio Yishun Town Council Housing Development Board. I worked with town planners, residents and contractor, supervised daily operations, covering conservancy and landscaping duties. I also planned and drafted pay roll, monthly scheduling of duties as well as manpower deployment. I was involved in a number of Ministerial visits and 'Cleanest Estate' competitions for areas that were under my supervision. I left the organisation to pursue my studies in Australia. I learnt to multitask, manpower deployment, cost control and public relations.
