NSW Hotel Quarantine

I am writing to thank you for being on the front line to protect Australian citizens against COVID-19 throughout the pandemic, working in the largest and longest Australian security operation in recent history.

Up to November 2021, half of all Australians who had returned home during the pandemic quarantined in NSW hotels. The program you worked on allowed over 265,000 people to come home during a global crisis, providing more than 5 million hours of security at 22 hotels.

The NSW program operated continuously from April 2020 to end April 2022. It enabled many lives to be saved and helped transition the community to freedoms that would not have been possible without the security program.

I would like to thank you for your service and dedication during challenging times. Many guests spoke very highly of the guards who were called on to serve out State in its time of need. I understand this was not easy but it is people like you who we rely on in times of crisis to help us manage challenging situations.

As we continue to work through living with the virus in our communities, I wish you and your family all the very best.

Yours sincerely
