In this role, I've achieved success and advanced from a construction worker to a Second In Charge (2IC), Leading Hand and also with temporary roles in Acting Supervisor. My current role is Leading hand on a major road reconstruction project with up to 70 site personnel including 10 full time staff and varying number of contractors.

I attribute this progression to my dedication, eagerness to learn, proactive approach, and ability to earn the respect of my colleagues.

Acting Supervisor

• Ensure all documentation is completed and correct prior to start date of project.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and communicate them with contractors and leading hands.

Construction Worker/ Second in Charge

• Maintained clean and organized job sites, contributing to a safe working environment for all employees.
• Dogged loads for franna cranes, and excavators using soft slings, chain's and clutches. These loads included steel, stormwater pipes, precast manholes, shoring boxes, road plates, trench rollers, formwork.
• Utilized hammers, saws, squares, levels, and fastening devices to complete projects.
• Promoted safety awareness among the workforce, leading to reduced incidents and accidents on site.
• Assisted in digging, trenching and backfilling trenches and foundations.
• Placed and finish concrete for driveways, footpaths, pram ramps, exposed aggregate
• Steel fixed cages for retaining wall footings, stormwater man holes, concrete retaining walls.
• Form working for various civil construction structures
• Install stormwater drainage systems utilizing pipe lasers, slip forms and precast structures.
• Complete road pavements from the initial box out through to the installation of gravel and cement modified bases utilizing various rollers from smooth drum to pad foot.

• Utilized wheelbarrows, shovels and other tools to move, spread and level concrete.
• Operate vibrating needles for placement of concrete.
• Leveled, smoothed, and finished surfaces of poured concrete for construction projects.
• Demolished and repaired old concrete surfaces.
• Install edge form and other forming materials to prepare for concrete pours.
• Maintained clean, safe worksite for team safety and to help keep projects on-track.
• Operate quick cut saws to cut bridge piling over pours ready for jackhammers.
• Grout various jobs.
