In the 3 years working in this role I started as a rear dump truck operator and eventually gained further skills with the loader and the dozer. Throughout my time in this role I also started to move into a step up supervisor role.

Operator, in addition to the rear dump trucks as per my previous work with Workpac on Saraji I gained wheel loader skills mostly operating the CAT 980 loader and the tracked dozer utilising both D10 and D11 dozers.

Loader operation included but not limited to the construction of mines roads, go lines and heavy machinery parking bays, light vehicle interaction areas, personnel separation zones, mine compliancies such as high risk bunding, and circuit clean ups where required.

Dozer operations included but not limited to operation of mine dumps, dozer push, road construction and maintenance, dig unit floor maintenance and clean ups, after weather clean ups, etc.

In the role of helping supervisors as step up, I completed the S1,2,3, and G2 courses. In this role I would convey information to the crew from the supervisor including dig sequences, assessment of safety concerns, signage and delineation of operational circuits, shift reporting and other BHP required processes, moving resources around as required, working with the OCE to maintain a safe environment, help to identify opportunity dumps and dig locations where possible, etc.

Operating multiple rear dump trucks including Cat 793 and Cat 797's under multiple types of dig units including electric rope shovels, excavators and loaders in both pre strip and coal extraction. Dumping operations to dumps, paddock dumps, ROM bins and stockpiles, and specialist projects such as roadworks, bund building for safety etc.

Operation included, safety and maintenance checks on machinery, communications with other departments such as maintenance, drill and blast, coal mining etc.

In addition to operation I also provided supervisors and the team with in pit help such as arranging and installing signage, personnel logistics, safety requirements, etc.
