I am a highly competent, motivated and passionate leader who is currently enjoying the challenge of a Track Maintenance Superintendent within RTIO Iron Ore. The experience I have gained as a frontline leader within Rail Maintenance over the last decade has given me the skills to positively motivate and mentor employees and co-workers. My drive to challenge myself ensures I am constantly learning and striving to improve. I have a naturally engaging leadership approach and can adapt my communication style as required to positively influence outcomes.
My demonstrated visual leadership and collaborative approach to each role I have undertaken has positioned me well as a respected leader within my team, peer group and that of the broader Rail senior leadership team. I take pride in my ability to establish good working relationships with a diverse group of people.
Having a strong understanding of all Rio Tinto health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and initiatives and visually demonstrate these on a daily basis, ensures all jobs my team undertake are completed safely and to a high standard. I have proven compliance with budgetary requirements, monitoring and reporting of financial activities, while continually reviewing activities to identify potential cost saving initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
• Effective management of a significant Opex and Capex budget
• Primary, Secondary, and Break down Maintenance on the Track. Including, Lube and grind, Steel replacements (SR&B/Frogs/IRJ), Rerails, Bog hole repairs, Level Crossing repairs, Track Renewals back to formation, Bridge renewals, TSR Removals, recoveries of defective wagons, derailments, ultrasonic defects, and Hi-rail runs.
• Logistics team management: Coordination and Delivery of assets and machinery
• Project Management of Minor Renewals
• Highly proficient in managing change
• Regular infield coaching with Leadership team, with a strong focus on cascaded coaching
• Provide ongoing guidance and education to Leaders within our team in relation to the HR process to ensure consistent application
• Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements, implementing best practices, and exploring new technologies or methods to enhance track maintenance efficiency, reduce downtime, and increase the lifespan of the track assets.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborating with other departments, such as operations, engineering, renewals, and safety, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of track maintenance activities. This involves, participating and facilitating meetings, providing updates, and addressing concerns and enquiries from stakeholders.
• Defect Elimination - Focus on Preventative maintenance and maintenance tactics
• Scheduling and Planning: Identifying opportunities and implementing processes to ensure we are maximizing our opportunities to reduce our footprint on the network whilst improving track health.
Act Locomotive Maintenance Superintendent:
A leadership role within the Rail Maintenance team responsible for the safe delivery of cost effective and reliable asset performance through execution of high-quality maintenance activities.
Locomotive Maintenance Supervisor:
Responsible for the welfare and performance management of a team of maintenance personnel, with an underlying commitment to the availability and reliability of locomotives and brake cars.
Locomotive Maintenance Coordinator:
A leadership role within the Locomotive Maintenance team, ensuring locomotives were delivered for servicing or breakdown work and all parts required for repairs were readily available.
