Work History

Student Support Officer / Aboriginal Tutorial and Mentoring Program Coordinator

Kurongkurl Katitjin ECU
01.2022 - 01.2025
  • Managed assigned cases requiring academic, pastoral, cultural, and social support for Indigenous ECU students, coordinating with services for holistic care and fostering long-term student relationships reflected in positive end-of-year feedback.

  • Coordinated ECU’s Indigenous Tutoring Program, managing tutor recruitment, onboarding, allocations, and payroll. I collaborated with the IT department to streamline and digitise the program to reduce administrative handling. This contributed to improved student outcomes, with many achieving high results and receiving scholarships.

  • Collated data for management on various programs and statistics to ensure continuous funding support from external/government bodies.

  • Managed and facilitated various initiatives that provide financial and technical support for Indigenous students. I developed a bursary to alleviate financial stress whilst students were undertaking practical/professional placement.

  • Coordinated and facilitated Indigenous student orientation in collaboration with the central team. I introduced an additional online session to support working students, resulting in strong and equal attendance to both online sessions.

  • Supported Indigenous student success by coordinating the graduation program, delivering campaigns in pre-graduation support, post-graduation planning, and celebration events. In one semester, 60 students completed their degree, with 40 attending the pre-graduation event alongside family and community.

  • Developed process documents for the various programs and initiatives delivered from Kurongkurl Katitjin. This is to ensure processes are followed and additionally provides oversight of the administrative tasks and the potential for further development.

  • Hosted events that brought students and staff together to develop rapport and connection within Kurongkurl Katitjin.

  • Created information and ‘call to action' slides which were displayed on the TV screens in each Kurongkurl Katitjin centre. Each fortnight, the slides were updated and tailored to the respective campus, cohort and semester.

  • Supported delivery of the Bilang Bilang program, a 3-day camp introducing Indigenous high school students to university life and study pathways. A student kept in contact after the program enquiring Bachelor of Physiotherapy pathways.

Indigenous Support Coordinator

Centre for Aboriginal Studies - Curtin University
01.2017 - 01.2021
  • Provided academic, pastoral, cultural and social support for Indigenous Curtin University students.

  • Developed a community page in blackboard for students engaged in the mentoring program to communicate, ask questions and to receive updates/information regarding mentoring events.

  • Developed and facilitated on-campus visits for Indigenous high school students. Collaborating with various schools at Curtin University, the tours provided hands-on course experiences resulting with increased average interest in higher education from 30% to 70% as measured by post-tour surveys.

  • Assisted with providing tutors to students through the Indigenous Tutorial Scheme, which included degree and qualification matching, availability and time management, and tutor contract on/cross-boarding.

  • Facilitated University and cultural events to provide Indigenous students with the best start and experience in their academic journey.

Mentor and Presenter

Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) - Curtin University
01.2016 - 01.2017
  • Developed programs that discussed Indigenous topics and future planning for high school students.

  • Mentored and tutored Indigenous high school students through pre-developed programs which were facilitated on campus.

  • Networked with external organisations to participate in career days and provide post-school opportunities.

  • Facilitated fundraising events (i.e. Bunnings sausage sizzle, on-campus student events) to raise money for opportunities to send an AIME Student to Sony records in Sydney to record the AIME anthem.
