Organized and dependable Arborist looking to make a difference in every day of work.
When I left school, I became an apprentice Horticulturalist in a landscape nursery in Coffs Harbor for Roger Allen at Waterside Garden Nursery. My duties were watering, nutrient application, maintaining sprinklers, sales, small landscaping for customers, re potting and propagation.
I Tried a few different career paths after this but then found myself looking to becoming an Arborist, which is when I started working for Woody Woodpeckers at Murrarie.
I was employed as a basic laborer/ground worker learning under 1 climber. My duties were getting the truck ready with the daily tools, fuels, climbing gear, sharpening saws, maintenance of tools and truck, chipper use, general removal of trees and branches, navigation.
I then looked to solidify my career and become a Certificate 3 apprentice for River City Garden and Lawn under Barry Molten and his Manager Richard Kisalloff. In this role we done a variety of things mainly for Local surrounding councils. Duties ranged from street tree trimming and removals, felling trees to establish fire breaks, park tree trimming and removal, storm clean up, Arboricultural works for Business and Asset Services, climbing with single line access, Installation of possum boxes and cameras, rigging, truck driving, chipper use, stump grinding for BCC and SSCC, excavator and bobcat driving, MR truck driving.
During my last 3 years at RCGL, I was a team leader of a 3-man crew. We had a MR truck with a 12-inch chipper and all necessary hand tools. We mainly catered for BAS for Brisbane areas to Redlands. These jobs required high attention to detail and sound customer manner. I performed single line access climbs for limb reductions and tree dismantling for removal.
We provided storm related services in sever weather events and basic street tree maintenance.
I funded my own endeavour to become a Cert 5 Arborist during the very start of covid -19. This was by far the hardest thing financially and mentally I have conquered to date. My business name is Arbor Vitae Environmental Solutions. I subcontract to Tree science and The Urban Forest Forensic Centre. I was a project Arborist working on the Brisbane move bus tunnel network for Brisbane city council/Brisbane move. Cross river rail network from Dutton Park to Bowen hills. I collect tree and GIS positioning data to produce reports for construction and council bodies, seeking to develop new or current land adjacent to trees. I consult to clients to provide tree information and advice on various topics such as local law, federal law, construction tolerances, general health, pest and disease, structural viability, protected trees register, Arboricultural work methods.
Some previous jobs I have worked on are NSW schools tree risk assessments, Petrie paper mill and paper PFAS dumping, Bradbury Park infrastructure and asbestos removal, Alice street botanical gardens electrical upgrade, Mt Coot tha botanical gardens pathway upgrade between the tropical display dome and fern house, Black spot project Mt Nebo, Kumbarcho sanctuary storm water upgrade, Last but not least, as I would say one of my favourite cases is the Moreton Bay council imazapyr disaster.
As a project cert 5 Arborist I must oversee works from large tree crews doing works for numerous primary contractors in construction, in relation to Brisbane’s heritage or protected trees. These requirements are due to conditions of consent not only from the Arborist report, but also Brisbane council’s Natural Asset Local Law permit. For a few examples I supervised a removal of an iron bark at Gina Rinehart’s house, trimming of figs at new farm Mitchel apartments on the water front, oversee lifting of numerous trees for Inner city bus way turn around at Ernie’s roundabout for BMD and Brisbane move, removal and works around Anzac square re design and renovation.
I made a move away from Tree science to Jungle busters as a n in-between job until I could find a better suited job which was an Arborist for Moreton bay city council. This is my current job and enjoying it but I am definitely looking to improve my skills as a consulting Arborist.
Thank you for taking the time to read my resume and I am looking forward to elaborating on my professional history in person.
