  • Sole carer for son diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Asperger’s, ASD1), Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as well as generalised anxiety. A very challenging yet exponentially rewarding learning and character building experience.
  • Tutoring, respite relief and support to local families with neurodivergent members, both in-home, online and in school/scout settings. Assisting to identify and apply for resources and services, both local and online, including Aspect, Headspace, NDIS, etc. Assistance with negotiating Individualised Education Plans (IEP) with parents and school support staff. Supporting teachers aides during school events.
  • Parent helper aide and office support at Bright Beginnings.
  • Providing ongoing care for elderly neighbours in a variety of capacities, including but not limited to:

providing transport and assistance for doctors appointments and shopping tasks

assisting with domestic duties such as cooking, cleaning and basic household repairs and renovations

monitoring medication use and vital signs such as blood pressure, blood glucose, documenting results including variances and/or concerns

asssisting with and advocating for services and benefits such as Centrelink, Medicare, NDIS, Services NSW, Home Health Care, Patient Transport, Anglicare, Catholic Care, landlord, strata and contractor negotiations

assisting to provide palliative care for cancer and dementia stricken individuals, including assistance with medication, hygiene and positive mental health strategies

being emergency contact for those without family in the immediate area

assistance with online communications and other technologies

emotional support for both individuals and their families

  • English tutor, advocate and academic assistant for foreign students of UOW. This includes both academic and social learning, from both general spoken and written English lessons and assistance in understanding assignments, as well as real world scenarios of how to shop, catch transport, etc. Proofreading, editing and advice on assignments.
