I am currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing (Accelerated Studies) at the University of Tasmania, Rozelle Campus. I expect to graduate at the end of 2024 and become a Registered Nurse.
My career goals have always involved person-centred care, as my passion lies in working within the community to provide healthcare and communal supports to individuals in need. This is why I have chosen to pursue Nursing as a profession.
During my time as a student Nurse thus far, I have learnt valuable skills which will assist me in a clinical setting.
I endeavour to gain a diverse range of clinical experience before I complete my degree, to ensure I can make the most of my student experience and be well prepared to enter the Nursing profession. This why I have decided to apply for an interstate NUR239 placement in the Northern Territory. I am keen to expand my worldview through an interstate PEP and have an interest in rural community nursing which is part of the reason why I want to experience an interstate PEP for NUR239.
I am expected to attend my first placement in mid July 2023, which will be an 80 hour placement in an Oncology/Medical Ward.
Furthermore, my current and previous employment has provided valuable experience which compliments my studies as a nursing student. In my current employment I work with many complex and diverse individuals to support their mental health and wellbeing. Through this I have developed my communication skills and therapeutic interactions. I am involved in basic medication administration and healthcare. My employment has furthered my desire to become a nurse within the community as I have been witness to the invaluable care nurses provide to many of the clients I work with.
