Animal Care & Monitoring:
- Provide direct care to animals in a veterinary clinic, ensuring comfort and well-being.
- Monitor vital signs and behaviour of animals under treatment or recovery.
- Assist in administering medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
Surgical Assistance:
- Prepare and assist during surgical procedures, including sterilising instruments and setting up the operating area.
- Assist veterinarians during surgeries by providing necessary tools and monitoring anaesthesia levels.
- Post-operative care, including wound care, bandaging, and observing for complications.
Diagnostic Support:
- Assist with diagnostic procedures such as blood tests, X-rays, and ultrasound, ensuring correct protocols and patient care.
- Collect and process samples (blood, urine, faeces) for laboratory testing.
- Prepare and maintain diagnostic equipment, including operating and cleaning medical machines.
On-Call Duties & Afterhours Support:
- Be available for on-call duties to respond to emergency situations outside regular clinic hours.
- Provide afterhours care, including handling emergency cases, performing procedures, and offering advice to pet owners in critical situations.
- Monitor animals in the clinic overnight or during off-hours, ensuring continued care and updating veterinarians on the animal's condition.
- Assist with urgent after-hours treatments, such as wound care, administering IV fluids, or stabilising critical patients.
- Manage after-hours calls and triage emergency situations to determine the need for immediate medical attention or referral.
Client Communication & Education:
- Educate pet owners on proper care and preventive health measures for their animals.
- Provide clients with information on treatment plans, medications, and aftercare.
- Handle client inquiries and concerns, ensuring a high level of customer service and care.
Administrative & Clerical Tasks:
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history, treatments, and vaccinations.
- Schedule appointments and manage veterinary appointments and follow-ups.
- Process billing and assist with the handling of insurance claims and payments.
Team Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with veterinarians and other staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Participate in staff training and professional development to stay current with veterinary practices and procedures.
- General oversight of office to ensure smooth workflow, efficient processes, and exceptional customer service.
