An empathetic speech pathologist graduate with strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in patient assessment, time management and therapy-program design. Talented supporter of individual client growth with progression and improvement at forefront. Patient and methodical therapist with thorough understanding of each step in healing process.
UQ TRC had a mixed client base including both paediatric and adult patients, attending clinic for stuttering intervention. Main areas of my clinical experience involved conducting and modelling stuttering modification technique, BERL program, Lidcombe program and speech restructuring strategies. My role also required me to advocate and educate families about speech pathology services in fluency management. I was able to independently handle three clients for the duration of my placement and present my report.

STARS was an inpatient rehabilitation setting with adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders. STARS had a very strong interprofessional focus at STARS with various opportunities of joint assessment and therapy sessions with PT , OT , DT and Psychology. Throughout my placement, I was able to conduct thorough initial oromotor assessment, formal assessments of language and motor speech, specifically the Comprehensive Aphasia Test (CAT), Frenchay Dysarthria Assessment, PALPA, assessment of Intelligibility of Dysarthric Speech, ABA, patient centered and quality of life outcome measures, evidence based therapy approaches to communication disorders.

During my placement at CYMHS my responsibilities included administration and interpretation of CELF-5 and SDLT-E, Social communication therapy (group sessions for teens - PEERS program), developing and presenting social stories, report writing and feedback to client, coordinating with different professionals and participating in multidisciplinary discussions about cases

UQ clinic at Villanova school presented me with an opportunity to co-ordinate with school staff, families and other speech pathology students. Throughout my placement, I was able to independently set goals, plan intervention and assessment for five clients. At the end of the placement, I was also able to conduct family interviews, present assessment reports and advocate for speech pathology services.
In first year, I was able to observe above clinics to understand the clinic procedures, management and caseload prioritisation. I was also able to conduct case history interviews and build client- clinician rapport.
