Provide psychosocial (social & emotional wellbeing) culturally appropriate programs for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander inmates residing in the Lotus Glen Correctional Facility.
Follow defined service quality standards, occupational health and work policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Implement and monitor the organisation’s quality standards, work health and safety policies, procedures and programs and provide clinical governance in the relevant work area.
Case management, crisis management, and education services and cultural support to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander clients and families referred to the Cairns Hinterland Hospital Health Service Mental Health, Alcohol & other Drugs Service.
Implementation and review of client case plans, including risk management to self, community and others that meet the treatment needs of each allocated individual. Case planning may involve legal, income, housing, health, mental health, interpersonal, educational and employment needs, and services and other issues identified by assessment.
Provide competent level of knowledge and experience in intensive counselling and support to clients and their families as identified in the client’s case plan in order to stabilise health and lifestyle issues.
The referral of clients to relevant services such as detoxification, pharmacotherapy, or residential rehabilitation services in line with case plan objectives.
Provide health & wellbeing interventions, advocacy and support for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander families in the criminal justice system.
Maintenance of appropriate statistics and data entry systems, client file management and the provision of written reports as requested by the ADP Team Leader.
Preparation of confidential reports providing case assessments, treatment options, individual progress reports, client motivation, attendance and suitability for access to treatment services, completion of treatment/programs, and other pertinent information as required or requested by other internal and external agencies.
Development and maintenance of networks and cooperative partnerships with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities, Traditional Owners, committees and departments of the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, the Criminal Justice System, Queensland Police Service, Department of Communities, Child Safety, Non Government Organisations and other relevant agencies.
Work within a multi-disciplinary team context in the district health service by being an active member of the team through attendance and participation in team reviews, meetings, and quality activities.
Comply with contemporary Human Resource Management principles and practice including Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity, and anti-Discrimination requirements to ensure that the unit working environment meets legislative standards and Queensland Health Policy.
Receive Professional Supervision and participate in Peer Supervision activities.

Role & Responsibilities
Provide key leadership and management for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Workforce plan, including the provision of expert advice and guidance to the design, development and implementation of strategic initiatives for effective, sustainable improvements towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural capability and a sustainable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce across the Cairns Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

Provide expert advice and input to the design, development, and implementation of local initiatives to improve cultural capability across the Cairns Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.
Advise on and oversee the development, implementation, and periodic review of systematic processes for monitoring, analysing, evaluating, and reporting on the Cairns Hinterland Hospital and Health Services’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural capability.
