In 2022, I returned from maternity leave and went back from Line Up Producing, to my old love - Field Producing.
Pitching and executing ideas - whether original, from viewer emails, PR pitches, or other media outlets to find intriguing stories or issues we could transform into entertaining, engaging - and often important - television content, to an audience of around one million viewers each weeknight.
Thoroughly talent and fact-checking the information provided to ensure accurate reporting, and that a 'right of reply' is always offered to ensure fair and balanced journalism.
Mentoring junior producers and overseeing scripts to assist with story telling, and picking up grammatical and spelling errors.
Worked closely with Nine's Legal Team to mitigate potential issues when previewing stories, or writing the host's intros and back announces.
We receive annual Media Legal Training which has been invaluable in knowing what we can and can't report on, the language we use, how we represent a person or their perceived actions.
Built strong internal networks across departments, leveraging synergies for seamless collaboration on complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. For example, the move from "manual" to "automated" studios when Channel Nine relocated from Willoughby to our new North Sydney premises.
Maintained detailed records of all project activities for ease of reference during audits or post-mortems when evaluating lessons learned from past experiences.
In my capacity as Line Up Producer from 2016-2021, I was responsible for creating and writing the rundown and putting it to air each night from the Control Room.
Write promos for that night's stories.
Communicate with host, reporters and guests to ensure show is executed properly.
Adapt rundown to breaking news and brief host.
Check all cut stories for errors - flash frames, spelling/grammatical mistakes, pronunciation, flag potential legal issues.
Collaborate with the On-Air Graphics artists to create eye-catching studio wall graphics.
19 years’ live TV experience (studio, control room & outside broadcasts) across Sport, Entertainment, Morning Television and News & Current Affairs.
