In my role as Aircraft Maintenance Engineer I started as a apprentice aircraft sheetmetal worker and when I was made redundant in 2006 had obtained the classification of Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Structures grade 4 P.E. acting Leading Hand.
The role consisted of repair and maintenance of aircraft structures and components.
Being a acting leading hand required me to manage a crew of workers and make sure jobs were done efficiently and correctly.
All jobs had to be done in accordance with the aircraft manuals and the P.E. allowed me to sign off my own work and anyone working under me.
All these skills transfer to the position of GA and I use them everyday I work,
The thing that I always remember is that you never stop learning
