• Contracted to NSW Health as an IT infrastructure consultant to lead a project migrating over 5700 users & 13terabytes of data on the company’s file server to a new two node file server cluster utilizing a distributed file system (DFS).
• Analyzed current file server environment and documented all problems with directory structures, permissions, and standard operating procedures.
• Conduct presentations with NSW Health senior management in order to get company wide buy-in from the business for the migration project which was originally viewed as only beneficial to IT.
• Gained support of all business units, identified user contacts and built solid working relationships with each main department for all of NSW Health- HSS offices.
• Worked with key user contacts to identify, categorize and document permissions for all data related to their department which was spread over numerous file shares and multiple servers.
• Assisted user contacts in planning new centralized departmental data shares to ensure the share layout was optimized for the needs of the department while being easy for IT to administer and designed to allow for growth.
• Configured cluster and DFS resources including attached LUNs to house the department shares on the file cluster.
