  • Since working at Cameby, I have been fortunate enough to work on a wide variety of mining equipment including but aren’t limited to Komatsu bull dozers D275’s- D475’2, Komatsu WA500-WA900 wheel loaders, Komatsu rear dump HD1500’s, Komatsu PC4000, CAT D10-D11 dozers, Cat 16-24 graders, Cat 777-789 rear dumps, Cat 992 wheel loaders, Hitachi 1900, 2600, 3500 excavators, Liebherr 996B excavator and a variety of ancillary equipment. This position allowed me to work in the field for break down work, carry out planned work and repairs, major shutdowns and repairs on excavator fleet etc. With this experience it helped further develop my skills and gave me new appreciation on cost effective maintenance practices, furthered my understanding of the importance of a dynamic team environment and how critical it is to follow safe work methods and practices. I was also fortunate enough to run planned machine overhauls which allowed me to structure work, mentor other trades people and supervise quality and quantity of work.
  • This position has allowed me to rotate from being hands on as a diesel fitter/break down field service fitter but also lead a team being a senior fitter on site which has strengthened my skills in people management, thorough diagnosis of equipment, attention to detail, maintenance recording, housekeeping and the importance of working safely and efficiently.
  • Ensured timely completion of work orders by managing multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality control.
  • Assisted in the training and development of junior fitters, sharing technical expertise for their growth within the industry.

Diesel Fitter

  • Throughout my time with Komatsu I worked in the Bowen Basin coal fields as a field service/product support diesel fitter. This role allowed me to gain a wide variety of skills and technical knowledge on a wide variety of earthmoving, mining and Ultra class mining equipment. These included but weren’t limited to Komatsu 630, 730, 830, 930 rear dumps, Komatsu WA1200 loaders, Komatsu PC2000, 3000, 4000, 7000 excavators, Hitachi EX3600, 5500 excavators, Cat D11 dozers, LeTourneau L1150, 1850 loaders etc.
  • With Komatsu I worked across multiple sites including BMA, BHP, Rio Tinto, Glencore, Peabody, Anglo, Theiss etc. These different companies and sites allowed me to develop my trouble shooting/diagnostic abilities, time management, safe work practices, communication skills, documenting and reporting, parts procuring and the associated process involved with Warranty claims. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Komatsu as it was a great career experience and it helped develop myself into a knowledgeable and proactive tradesman.

  • During my time at Tyrepower, I lead a team of mechanics and apprentices in light vehicle and medium vehicle repairs. This job gave me new skills in people management, customer relations, time management, quality control and communication. I was fortunate enough to be put through extensive extra training courses in advanced electrics, hydraulic steering and braking systems and electronic diagnostic equipment training. These courses are where I found my enjoyment and satisfaction in diagnosing and rectifying complex faults in vehicles and equipment.

  • During my time with CSR, I carried out my apprenticeship on a wide variety of equipment including light vehicles, road transport and civil earthmoving equipment. We were based at the coast and conducted on site and field repairs including a 24hr break down service. I was given the opportunity from 3rd year onwards to carry out field service repairs and 24hr break downs which is where I first developed my diagnostic skills. This job was a fast-paced environment which made me learn the importance of a good work ethic, being proactive and the importance of carrying out quality repairs to limit re-works.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my wife, kids and grandkids. Living at the Sunshine coast allows me to spend free time surfing, fishing and restoring and modifying classic vehicles.
