Hobbies and Interests

I am married to Margaret and we have two gorgeous children, a girl Molly (20 years) and a boy Charles (18 years). My family is very important to me and are responsible for most of my spare time and I especially love to watch our children learn & grow., I enjoy a healthy social life and flourish with my fantastic network of family and friends. Family is a very big part of our life and we enjoy getting together with our whole family whenever possible., 


Personal contact, communication, loyalty, organisation and teamwork are very important to me. I am also a very big believer in building strong relationships and keeping them strong., I have always been taught that the community you live is very important and that you should be part of that community. You can see from my CV I am and have been very involved in many different aspects of our community and I have thoroughly enjoy doing this.

  • Summerland Way Committee, Chair, The Summerland Way Committee was formed in the early 60’s as a lobby group for the sealing of the road between Grafton and Casino. After that project was successful completed the committee became inactive but was reactivated in the late 70’s in a bid to improve road conditions north of Kyogle and, ultimately, prove the real economic value of the Summerland Way as an alternative transport route and scenic drive between Coffs Harbour and Brisbane. The objectives of the committee continue to be the promotion of the Summerland Way as an alternative route to the Pacific Highway between Coffs Harbour and Brisbane. Membership of this committee is from Councils in Northern NSW and South East Queensland.
  • Local Emergency Management Committee, Chair, Meeting on a quarterly basis with all Richmond Valley emergency response organisations this Committee monitors, assesses and formulates strategies for emergency issues affecting or likely to affect the Richmond Valley.
  • Richmond Valley Traffic Committee, Chair, The Richmond Valley Traffic Management Committee seeks to minimize the urban environmental impacts of transport infrastructure such as congestion, noise and pollution. The Committee also oversees a range of social infrastructure projects such as recreational and cultural facilities along with making a major contribution to human capital infrastructure.
  • Richmond Valley Council Internal Audit Committee, The objective of this Committee is to facilitate the internal audit function of Richmond Valley Council.
  • Richmond Valley Council Executive Committee, The Executive of Council is a Committee that is required to meet on urgent matters and has the power to make decision on the Councils behalf.
  • Casino & Regional Saleyards Committee, Committee Member, The objective of the committee was to liaise and work with users of the saleyards and improve the facility which in turn helps the users.
  • Rous Water, Councillor, 2009-02, 2012, Rous Water is the regional water supply authority providing potable water in bulk to the Council areas of Lismore (excluding Nimbin), Ballina (excluding Wardell), Byron (excluding Mullumbimby) and Richmond Valley (excluding land to the west of Coraki). This Council meets every month to discuss issues of significance to the water supply and make decisions accordingly.
