I am a motivated and adaptable individual with hands-on experience across the veterinary, retail, and agricultural sectors. My background includes working in a large and small animal veterinary clinic, where I developed a strong foundation in animal care and clinical communication; a supermarket environment, which sharpened my customer service, teamwork, and time management skills; and a horse feed store, where I deepened my knowledge of equine nutrition and developed the ability to provide tailored advice to clients. These diverse roles have equipped me with a strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to learn quickly in fast-paced, customer-focused settings. I am eager to apply these strengths to further my studies and pursue a future career in a related field.
Working at Coles provided more than just retail experience. It gave me valuable insight into the dynamics of teamwork, customer engagement, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced environment. I learned how to manage time effectively during busy periods, prioritize tasks under pressure, and remain calm and solution-focused when dealing with customer concerns. The role helped me develop a strong sense of responsibility and accountability, especially in maintaining high standards of service and presentation.
Working in a Veterinary Clinic with large and small animals has offered me a unique perspective on the intersection of science, care and decision making in a clinical setting. Rather than just observing procedures, I came to understand the rationale behind them - why certain diagnostic tests are chosen, how treatment options are weighed and the ethical considerations involved in each individual case. I learned how to think quickly under pressure and how veterinarians balance medical knowledge with compassion when discussing prognosis with pet owners. This experience has also taught me the importance of adaptability, as every new day in the clinic brought new challenges, quick thinking and teamwork. Overall, my experiences have deepened my respect for the veterinary profession and has strengthened my drive to pursue a career in animal health.
This job gave me valuable insight into the agricultural and equine industries, particularly in understanding the nutritional and practical needs of horses and livestock. doing more than just handling products, I learned how different feed types, supplements, and care routines affect animal health and performance, which deepened my knowledge of animal nutrition. I also developed strong problem-solving skills by helping customers find tailored solutions for their animals, often based on specific dietary or medical requirements. The experience taught me how to communicate confidently with a diverse customer base, including both hobbyist and professional horse owners, and reinforced the importance of accuracy and product knowledge.
