Enhancing various soil properties with the use of waste as an additive was the focus of a detailed research project which I conducted in my 4th year of bachelor's studies in Civil Engineering. This research involved extensive experimental investigations to determine the impact of incorporating different types of waste, such as fly ash, rice husk ash, and wheat husk, into soil mixtures. Through a series of laboratory tests, including standard Proctor compaction tests, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) tests, and permeability assessments, I was able to analyze changes in soil strength, compressibility, and moisture retention characteristics. The outcomes revealed significant improvements in soil properties, highlighting the potential for sustainable construction practices.
Additionally, I was involved in advanced warehouse structural design simulations using STAAD PRO during my final year. This team project required comprehensive structural analysis, load calculations, and modeling of reinforced concrete structures. It honed my skills in designing, understanding, and applying principles of reinforced concrete structures. The use of STAAD PRO allowed us to simulate various load conditions and optimize the structural integrity and cost-effectiveness of our design. This project reinforced my ability to work collaboratively, apply technical knowledge, and develop practical engineering solutions.
