I graduated high school in 2021, and firstly contracted in landscaping whilst I decided what trade I wanted to pursue. I then worked as a trade assistant in the Air Conditioning Industry. During that time, I discovered my true passion lay in the electrical side of things. Despite having a promising future at Master AirCon, I decided to pursue my interest in electrical work. I resigned so I could focus on obtaining my Cert II in Electrotechnology, which I'm told is a crucial step towards securing an Electrical Apprenticeship. Now, I'm excited and actively looking for an apprenticeship opportunity where I can be part of a great team environment and continue learning the trade and skills. In addition to completing my certification, I've also obtained essential tickets like the EWP license and White Card. Over the past 12 months, I've also acquired my own hand and power tools which I've needed to complete my day to day tasks in my previous roles.
As part of the recent Cert II in Electrotechnology course, I had the privilege of working closely with Glen Whitehand one day a week. I mainly assisted him with the maintenance of the lighting in Australia Fair.
To gain valuable experience for securing an electrical apprenticeship, I proactively reached out to various contractors to offer my assistance on an occasional basis. This allowed me to gain practical insights and hands-on experience in the field.
