Talisha Hockley

My curious and amiable personality makes it easy for me to communicate and work with people of any kind. I am a hard worker who is willing to give anything a go, and I will always try my best in everything I do. I am a quick learner, good at following instructions, and show initiative when working unsupervised. I’m always eager to learn new things and grow my own creativity. I’m an outside-the-box thinker in everything I make and do.

My interests include drawing, art, reading and writing, comics (I love comics so much), emotional movies, animation and music. For me the best sort of day is one where I can listen to music and work on a creative project.

• I have been a member of the Portland Squash & Racquetball Club, the Portland Hockey Club, & the Dunkeld Hockey Club.
• I play the cornet and was a part of the Portland Citizens' Brass Band from a young age, playing in local and interstate festivals, parades and services.
• I was a volunteer for the Live4Life crew. Life4Life promotes awareness of youth mental health. They organise days for young teens educating on mental health and services.
• I am a volunteer SUFM leader. SUFM help run free summer activities/programs for children during the holidays. I have been on the family mission and the cook team.
• I have experience in catering from helping cater for multiple events. I volunteered to be a part of the team that catered for the Glenelg Shire Volunteer Recognition Event, the Portland SUFM Summer Program, and a local conference on two occasions.
• I was a Senior School Leader for Bayview College 2023I was selected to be a part of the Girls Empowerment Engineering and IT program at the University of Melbourne.
• I was cross country captain at state level for 3 years.I was chosen by staff and peers to make a speech introducing our study tour group to Ichiristu High School (with over 1500 students) fully in Japanese.
• I am a member of the Bolwarra Uniting Church.
• I was the co-group leader in the Bayview Social Sciences team that was a part of the Tournament of Minds.
• I have participated in 5 musicals. I have a passion for singing and performance and was once a lead role, playing Pinocchio in a performance of Shrek the Musical.

• I was awarded with the Sarah Hopkins Art award.
• I received the Community Citizenship & Involvement award.
• I was awarded the Deb-Punton Thomas Memorial award for Arts & Design.
• I received an award from the University of South Australia for pursuit of tertiary studies.

I completed a short work experience with PM Design in Warrnambool.

Before this, I made income by raising and selling poddy calves at home with my father and older brother.
