Within this role, I regularly undertake court clerking duties and help maintain file management for lawyers, such as organising billing and aid applications as well as drafting letters and forms. I also help to maintain client interactions, triage and determine eligibility for services, and then appropriately organise referrals or appointments. I regularly undertake complex file work and serve as dedicated administrative support for complex Indictable Files, including preparing matters for trial in the County Court. This role has allowed me to gain an extensive understanding of Criminal Law in Victoria, as well as further developing my knowledge of Family and Migration law due to Criminal Law’s regular intersection with these practice areas.
I was responsible for daily administrative and reception tasks, drafting documents and letters, and liaising with external stakeholders, including government bodies, other law firms and separate representatives. Served as the initial client contact and managed client relationships, in addition to creating physical and digital marketing content for the organisation, as well as legal information handouts and fact sheets. Undertook small scale financial duties, as well as file management, archiving, filing and data entry. In this role, I developed a comprehensive knowledge of various legal fields, including Family Law, Wills and Estates, Conveyancing, Commercial and Litigation practices.
I acted in various positions in this organisation. Firstly as a Learn to Swim instructor teaching water safety and stroke development to children aged 3-8. Then as a Customer Service Officer providing information to patrons of the centre, and Deck Supervisor acting in a managerial position overseeing the running of the Learn to Swim Program on an on-shift basis as well as administrative duties. Finally, I acted n a managerial position as Learn to Swim Coordinator and being responsible for rostering, payroll, hiring procedures and general running of the swim school.
Undertook a variety of administrative duties and provided support to team members, case workers and clients at a community legal centre. Obtained a substantive knowledge of Migration Law in Australia including but not limited to: types of visas and application processes, Department of Home Affairs regulations and policies, Australia’s citizenship pathways and visa cancellation processes.
