In Home Care Educator

Wanslea
02.2022 - 12.2022
  • Worked predominately with one family of two children, one boy aged four who has Cerebral Palsy, he was in a wheelchair and required all things to be done for him, including nappy changes, feeding and drinks. He required medication twice a day whilst he was in my care and it was extremely important to change his positions throughout the day to avoid muscle spasms. I also cared for his younger sister who was 2, she required all food to be prepared for her, activities to be created to enhance her learning and assistance with toilet training.
  • Whilst the children were in my care I had to create, plan and document their learning and what had happened during each day.
  • Responsible for creating excursion plans if we decided to leave the house, these had to be signed by the parent prior to our departure.
  • Record all medication that was administered and report this to the parents as well so that accurate hand over was complete.
  • Record/ document any incidents or injuries that occur to the children whilst in care. This included but was not limited to the little boys seizures.
  • Document nappy changes throughout the day to ensure that output was healthy.
  • Prepare and serve the children balanced meals throughout the day. Usually their lunch was ready in the fridge and it was just preparing snacks

Outside of School Hours Care Coordinator

CYC Camp Cooloongup
01.2017 - 02.2022
  • Started in an educator position which turned into a management role 2 years into my time there due to a staff reshuffle.
  • Responsible for the overall operations of the OSHC service that was licenced to 45 spaces, this included creating Before School, After School and Vacation Care programs and menus, creating rosters that were compliant to a 1:10 staff to child ratio, organise daily bus runs for morning drop offs to school and afternoon pick ups from school and returning to the service.
  • Created and updated profiles for children with additional needs to gain funding for their additional support needs through the IDFM. Notes were updated each term and the cases were reviewed and renewed annually. Worked collaboratively with the families and the Inclusion Person from Communicare to ensure that the service was able to provide the best support to the children attending our service.
  • Lead a successful team and service from meeting one Quality Area in the National Quality Standards to meeting five Quality Areas in a three year period. Whilst the service was meeting the one Quality Are we were also under additional monitoring from the Education Care and Regulatory Unit which was taken away 1 year after I took over the Coordinators position.
  • Developed and updated childcare specific Policies and procedures to ensure compliance and that the health and safety of the children and staff was number priority at all times. During this time I was in constant communication with the Regulatory Authority to ensure that all policies were linked to the most current rules and regulations
