• Professional Responsibilities include providing professional development of student nurses by maintaining and advancing nursing practice, complex care skills and building the clinical competence of students to ensure the safe and effective patient care delivery

My role as After- hours Clinical Nurse Specialist over the past 4 years working as a Clinical nurse specialist 2/ Clinical Development Nurse and 8 years Clinical Nurse Educator; is to use critical thinking skills to analyse complex situations (during Clinical reviews and MET calls) and make well informed clinical judgements and prompt but well guided clinical decision which are in line with practice and organisation development frameworks regarding patient care; preventing deterioration and improving patient outcomes. Also initiating effective evidence based patient management strategies, performing complex procedures and interpreting / following complicated treatment regimens. Following up and assessing patients post Clinical reviews and MET calls.

Professional responsibilities include;

• Responding to all Clinical reviews, rapid response, and MET calls
• Prompt patient assessment in life threatening situations
• Initiating early interventions treatments , Oxygen, establishing Intravenous access, Collecting bloods and commencing Intravenous fluids
• Monitoring and follow up of all deteriorating patients

• Some of my duties include conducting clinical support and ongoing education of nurses, identifying, and responding to the learning needs of individuals and the service, implementing, and evaluating clinical education programs and in-services for nurses, overseeing and monitoring patient evaluation and treatment decisions, and participating and contributing to the development of clinical knowledge and skills of new and existing nurses.

• Some of my duties include performing general assessments related to specific conditions, and general therapies and interventions, developing plan of care, assisting the patient with activities of daily living, administering medications, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing supervision to students in their clinical practice and ensuring accurate documentation of patient findings to ensure the continuum of patient care

• My role with Australian Institute of Business Technology focused on enhancing the quality of the learning environment, education, and training needs of health care staff and of the full range of professional groups
• Key to the role was practicing effective communication and organisational skills
• Some of my duties included implementing and evaluating clinical education programs and in-services, designing and developing course content, training materials and modules, developing audit tools and processes to evaluate the effectiveness of educational programmes, liaising and consulting regularly with unit coordinators to facilitate effective integration of theory with practice and achievement of expected outcomes in the management of all aspect of course development programs
