    As a School Learning Support Officer (2022-2024) I have worked in mainstream and support unit settings on both casual and temporary contract basis This support has been in the capacity of both School Learning Support Officer (SLSO) in a high school setting supporting students from Year 7-10 with a variety of support needs

    Awareness of the needs of students with diverse disabilities including intellectual disability, autism, emotional and behavioural disabilities/disorders

    An abundance of knowledge, skills and personal attributes are needed to work effectively with students with emotional, physical and intellectual disabilities to create positive learning outcomes

    To do this I have:

  • monitored support student behaviour during excursions/incursions, as well as at recess and lunch
  • readily adapted my communication methods and used various communication aids depending on the individual needs of the student
