I am a qualified Veterinary Nurse with 6 years experience in animal healthcare. I am currently working full time at Cairns Veterinary Clinic after relocating from Melbourne in January 2024.
I am seeking to try something new to grow and develop my skills and challenge me in my career. Vet nursing is all I have known in my adult working career, for as long as i can remember I have been extremely passionate about Australian native wildlife and how important and lucky we are to live alongside these animals, yet I have never managed to find my exact spot in this field where I feel I am making a difference and having an impact on protecting/conserving these animals and their environments. I feel I have so much care, love and passion to give to this industry and this job position might be where I find I can make a real difference, I would love to be given the opportunity to pursue this ambition.
Additionally to previous vet nursing skills:
- Clinic stock and supply, completing weekly orders
- Assisting with rosters and organising our computer scheduling of appointments and surgery
- Assisting other nurses with training/skill work
- Mentoring students on placement for study
- Reorganising an entire clinic to run more functionally as well as cleanly
- Implementing cleaning protocols
- Encouraging 5 minute morning meetings to touch base with everyone so there is flow to the day and everyone knows their role that day
- Organising out of work events to continue a happy workplace for people to be
Additional skills from emergency work:
I have worked between multiple veterinary clinics from Melbourne to Cairns, I am familiar with change and open to learning new things. I am a hard worker who has great time management skills making me reliable, I am fit, healthy and love being outdoors.
I am an efficient worker I thrive best when kept busy no matter the job, I pride myself on being very organised and keeping things in a clean and functioning order. I work great in a team as that is all I have known since joining the work force, I get along well with everyone and always willing to help when it is needed, I enjoy learning new skills and love gaining knowledge.
My Head Veterinary Nurse roll I gained confidence in my nursing abilities as well as having to learn leadership, dealing with difficult circumstances and making situations work when things didn't go to plan.
keeping on top of an entire clinics ordering also helped me gain knowledge into better ways to save on costs and see the importance to be more environmentally sustainable within the industry. I have had to support and train many students over the last few years, mentor them to be competent individuals which was nothing but rewarding and has inspired me to want to fulfill a challenge of a leadership roll going forward in my career, something I wish to grow towards and succeed in one day.
