Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse

  • Assist in diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures: angiography, PCI, PPM, AICD and loop recorder insertion, exercise stress tests as well as analysing cardiac holter monitors
  • Ability to scrub, scout and monitor these patients through the various procedures in the cath lab, including the ability to interpret ECG's, vital signs and early recognition of complications and deterioration
  • Have been participating in the 24/7 on call roster for 9 months
  • Ability to maintain sterility and adhere to strict infection control policies and procedures during procedures
  • Provide both pre and post procedural care, including recovery monitoring, patient education and discharge planning
  • Ability to enter RedCap data entry for the department for research
  • Showing eagerness to work towards a portfolio and CNS within the department

  • During my new grad year on this ward, I perfected the use of PPE, gained the skills of working with high flo oxygen, NIV and using the telemetry monitors in the A5 Annex.
