Since completing my degree and embarking on my journey as an educator and becoming a teacher, I have come to deeply appreciate the significance of enriching educational experiences and facilitating positive outcomes for students and their wellbeing. My dedication to this cause led me to seize an opportunity to join LinkUp QLD, a remarkable team dedicated to uniting Indigenous families with their lost generations and cultural identities.
As an Indigenous individual myself, I was driven by this shared passion and eagerly embraced the role of a Social, Emotional, and Wellbeing Counsellor within the organisation. Determined to enhance my skills and knowledge in counselling, I pursued a diploma in counselling alongside my professional responsibilities.
While on a fulfilling path towards self-improvement, an opportunity arose for a position as a Year 1 Primary Teacher in Mount Isa. Guided by my earnest commitment to teaching, I temporarily paused my counselling studies to return to the field I hold dear.
In the course of my teaching tenure, unforeseen challenges occurred and decided to take a brief hiatus to recuperate and pursue a Masters's degree in Education, specialising in Guidance, Counselling, and Careers before returning back to work. During my career journey, I have fulfilled the roles of a Primary Teacher, High School Vocational Education Adviser, Japanese supervisor, SSP PLD trained teacher, intervention and extended my role as a support as aTeacher. Additionally, I have also gained experience in SEP roles and skills in case management for SEP students with disabilities. Thus, I continue to uphold my dedication to fostering academic growth and emotional wellbeing within the educational sphere.
Be it as a supportive educator, a compassionate counsellor, or a devoted member of the academic community, my unwavering commitment remains steadfast. I approach every endeavour with a profound appreciation for the importance of family values and holistic student development.
I am eager to embrace new challenges and contribute meaningfully to the betterment of educational practices and family welfare.
