Summary

Working Holiday Visa Subclass 417 citizen 22 year old from Scotland

As a farmers daughter, I have the work ethic of an extremely driven and resilient individual. My upbringing has been heavily influenced from working and living on our arable livestock farm. Both challenging and hands on work has developed both a strong sense of self-discipline and responsibility from a young age.

I’m capable of working both independently and as part of a team, having the endurance to work long hard hours, with early rises which I thrive off of. Having lived within a close-knit farming community in the Orkney Islands (Scotland), the farming way of life and husbandry skills come second nature to me.

Long winter seasons involve the labour of caring, monitoring, fattening & breeding cattle and calf’s for up to 6 months indoors. Maintenance jobs relied heavily on organisational skills and were prioritised to keep our property in efficient working order, to promote the wellbeing of our livestock. Other responsibilities included the breeding of sheep, as well as cultivating and harvesting our land in return for grass, straw and barley which required various skills of operating heavy machinery.

My love for horses and interest towards equine health is pure. I am capable and confident in the saddle, having owned and laboured ponies since aged 4. Since I’ve been a member of Orkney’s Pony Club Branch, I’ve competed at multi-events, mounted games and agricultural shows & events (as well with cattle).

I am an honest, reliable and friendly I am a dedicated and efficient worker. Capable of aiding situations or solving a task where I can work out-with my comfort zone. Equality sits within high regard where I treat each individual with dignity and respect despite various conditions, ethnicities and backgrounds.

To gain work experience that broadens my understanding of the guardianship between man and working dog, within the farming and mustering industry. As well as being devoted to my own border collie, this passion comes from my own work experience, having instructed and communicated with collies between lambing, labouring and shifting sheep.

The feedlot sector inspires me to learn more about the production process of backgrounding and fattening livestock. I feel passionately about working within a like-minded, caring environment, to supply beef of high quality and standard.

Due to my love and passion for horses, mustering and droving cattle on horseback is a job experience I would love to get a chance at.

I’m looking to further my skills & knowledge when it comes to the maintenance of water supplies and irrigation systems.
