PROTECTION SPECIALIST (GBV)

  • As a protection specialist, my primary responsibilities in the GBV prevention and response program included serving as the PSEA focal point, conducting capacity-building trainings, mentoring, and coaching project staffs, conducting safety audit assessments, implementing the Girl Shine life-skills project for adolescent girls, and rolling out the EMAP (Engaging Men through Accountability Practice) curriculum.

  • With the support of the principal consultant, I led a local research team in conducting research projects in private and humanitarian sectors in Myanmar
  • My main responsibilities involved coordinating with clients, conducting literature reviews, developing research questions, conducting data collection activities, analyzing data and assisting in producing reports
  • We completed groundbreaking research on 'Employer Supported Childcare' in Myanmar's private sectors, contributing valuable insights that enhance workplace policies and support for working parents (This report is available on the IFC website)
  • Completed a situation analysis for women's economic empowerment in the rubber sector for Care Myanmar and in the agriculture sector for DaNa Facility
  • I authored case study stories for the ILO- GIP project, showcasing the life stories and struggles of successful women in garment sector of Myanmar (It can be read on the ILO website)
  • I delivered a 'How to Write Survey' training for garment HR personnel in coordination with the H&M brand in Myanmar

  • I worked as a freelance consultant for the Danish Refugee Council on a short analysis project to identify 'Success Factors in Resilience to Shocks' while implementing a GBV remote program in Rakhine state

  • I completed and implemented a gender action plan for the Green Gold Cooperative of coffee farmers at UNODC

  • I led a local research team in conducting groundbreaking research on 'Respectful Workplace', focusing on sexual harassment and bullying in Myanmar workplaces. It was a collaborative effort with International Finance Corporation (IFC) and DaNa Facility, aiming to explore the business costs related with these issues and providing actionable recommendations to enhance workplace safety and strengthen workplace policies.   • I and my team conducted comprehensive data collection activities across 52 organizations, including focus group discussions, key informant interviews, safety walks, observations, and over 700 surveys
  • Our team also organized and conducted 'Respectful Workplace' training sessions in collaboration with IFC for private business groups

  • I took a roving position as a GBV team leader at DRC, providing technical supervision, and manage GBV team in two offices in Rakhine state, serving Rakhine, Rohingya communities and IDPs
  • Identified gaps and conducted capacity building sessions for GBV team members and field-based staff
  • Monitored the impact and feasibility of GBV prevention activities, providing feedback to the GBV manager to enhance programming
  • Provided technical support, mentoring, and coaching to GBV responders throughout case management sessions, ensuring proper follow-up of GBV cases
  • Ensured adherence to international standards and a survivor-centered approach in all aspects of the case management process
  • Facilitated the use of GBV case management tools and applied active listening techniques to empower survivors through service provision
