Volunteering Roles

  • 2022-10-01, Deputy Bandmaster of West Wyalong Town Band, In this role, I run our band practices for 30 minutes, then our Band Master takes over. I would do warm-ups, tuning, and then I spend the remaining time on a piece of my choosing. When our Band Master is away, I run our full practice, and December 2022, I was the conductor for our annual Carols by Candlelight, as our Band Master was sick. In this role of Deputy Band Master, I brought 8 new members to the band, on a range of instruments, I introduced a new inventory management system, and managed our social media, making sure the public new about all our performances, members, and everything we were doing. While also delegating between other bands, arranging days for us to meet and play together, and delegating between our juniors’ parents, and informing them on events. As a member of West Wyalong Town Band, I play a variety of instruments, filling in where we needed, and playing the last post every ANZAC day, playing at the Dawn Service, and local services around our shire.
  • 2023-10-01, Deputy Bandmaster, Librarian, Uniform and Instrument Inventory Officer, Publicity Officer for the West Wyalong Town Band, I successfully organised and conducted the band and choir at our Carols by Candlelight, 2023. I also coordinated with other choirs and bands in surrounding towns, and invited them over, resulting in a group of roughly 40 people, presenting our most successful Carols by Candlelight yet. I improved on our current Uniform and Instrument system, of which I made last year, and I introduced a fee of $50 to use the Bands instruments and uniform. This fee is fully resolvable at the end of their journey with us but is implemented to try and sustain members of the band as we had a lot of members, not showing up for rehearsals/performances.
  • 2024-04-01, Bandmaster, Conductor Temora Town Band, I took over the position of Bandmaster/Conductor of the Temora Town Band for 15 weeks whilst the current conductor/Bandmaster was away. Whilst in this position I prepared the band for performances and kept them working and improving on pieces. I slotted in, and slotted out with ease, and worked well with the new band from day one.
