Carpenter

Australian Garage Supermarket
01.2017 - 12.2023

being a small company i occupied many roles at my time at australian garage supermarket, my primary role was as an installer but also included fabracation, sales, detailing/designing, overseeing wherehouse operations, quotes and takeoffs, deliveries and anything that needed to be done.

my role as installer is how i spent most of my time and where i honed my craft, this included the install of steel frame homes, sheds, grannyflats, carports, patios, decks and roofing. all builds were completed to lockup stage including framing, cladding, roofing, windows/doors, garage doors and in some cases internal fitout. working as a team to ensure all builds were complected to plans and specifications and to the approval of the client.

completing my carpentry apprenticeship here i learned a broad range valuable carpentry skills aswell as skills not many carpenters get to learn.

my other roles at the company included

  • use of detailing software to design new lightweight steel frame builds to be engineered/certified and subsequently rolled inhouse by our rollforming machine. this allowed me to be involved in every step of new builds from initial client designs through to council approvals, frame design and engineering (liasing with our engineers and client), production of steelframing, through to transport and install.
  • use of software to create a bill of materials, ordering of custom flashings, and manual calculations of material quantity's
  • managing of the whorehouse, including production timelines, cleanliness, training of new staff, receving deliveries and dispatching materials, maintaining and repairing various machines (rollformer, aircompressor system, forklift, punch and sheer machine)
  • operating forklift to receive and dispatch materials.
  • fabrication of steel components using migwelder. this included the production following shop drawings to produce shs posts w/baseplates cleats etc, the production of welded carport structures using galvanised c-section with welded cleats.

onsite welding of sitemeasured posts and flooring systems.
