In my time working for Tate, I was responsible for installing engineered ceiling systems and joinery units within the newly built Microsoft data centres in Melbourne. This involved measuring and cutting material, fixing units to the ceiling grids with brackets and screws, setting out the correct placement of units and working in with other tradespeople on site.
While working at Fortis Construction, i gained valuable experience in formwork. I worked on a number of projects around Melbourne including a large scale retirement apartment building, an Elephant enclosure at Werribee Zoo, an Olympic swimming pool in Burwood an multiple smaller scale apartments buildings.
While working for JLM Building in New Zealand, i was exposed to a large variety of both residential construction, as well as some light commercial work and joinery installs. I was one of only two carpenters in the company, so was responsible for running jobs, ordering materials, studying and understanding plans, attending council inspections and training the apprentices. Our main work was residential homes with both spec homes and high end architectural builds. We were involved in the entire process of each build from slab preparation, framing, interior linings, installing windows and doors, and all finishing work. We also completed large scale joinery installs at universities and schools within NZ.
Humphries was where I first started as an apprentice. i worked on a number of sites gaining experience in timber framing, formworking and other general construction works.
