I have enjoyed a very enriching and diverse career largely centred around commercial & relationship outcomes.
I had 27 wonderful years at Qantas where I held senior roles in both Melbourne and Head Office in Sydney which saw implementations of the A380 to the USA route, year on year revenue growth, year on year conversion of corporate accounts from competitors.
I then enjoyed nearly 12 months at Visit Victoria driving awareness associated with the Bushfires with corporate Victoria. This was highly successful until the arrival of Covid where I went to assist the Communications and Marketing Teams with various initiatives.
I took up a role with the Victorian Chamber of Commerce & Industry involving recruiting new members in to our top tier membership categories, driving sponsorship awareness and revenues, liaising with overseas Chamber and business associations, building relationships with Government Department and Authorities and looking at new avenues for overseas trade through our Global Consulting practice and finally, growing awareness of the significance of the Visitor Economy.
While my corporate journey has predominantly revolved around the Travel, Tourism, and Aviation sectors, the last few years have really broadened my knowledge around working with the Government of the day and what is needed in order for this to succeed.
I have really enjoyed these varied challenges and responsibilities especially over the last few years and I wish to build on these experiences moving forward.
On the back of the devasting bushfire season in Victoria, I was asked to join Visit Victoria by the then Minister for Tourism & Major Events, to drive visitations back to the devastated areas.
This included :
· Personal liaison with Board member and C-Suite executives in corporate Victoria
· Request that their companies hold an event, meeting or similar with as many personnel as possible in a region impacted either directly or indirectly by the fires
· Create initiatives which would favourably impact the region and the corporate to ensure ongoing success
· Highly successful program until the intervention of COVID and lockdowns
· Despite the lockdowns, during this period we grew the database to around 4,500 business from large multinationals through to small & medium sized enterprises
· Outside of the role, I was managing communications from external parties, customers and Ministers including task such as answering letters for Ministers and other Members of Parliament and evaluating ‘ideas’ as they came through.
I have been the Secretary of the Ivanhoe Knights Basketball Club since July 2019 and have enjoyed watching the club tripple its members and develop it's own range of unique basketball training options for our players as well as a new and exciting initiative with taking the children to participate in tournaments overseas.
I also coach the Under12 Boys grade 5 team
