I am a resilient, hard-working, professional and organised individual, as demonstrated by graduating with a Second Class Honours Division One (2:1) in Sport and Exercise Science BSc (Hons) Degree from Teesside University. Once I graduated from Teesside University, I started my initial teacher training with an outstanding provider called North East Partnership SCITT. This included designing and delivering engaging, progressive and inclusive lessons in subjects such as PE, English, Maths, History, RE, Science and many more. This shows that I am also very adaptive and possess many skills. I am currently playing Cricket in Australia alongside coaching and working within education.
Glendale Technology High School is a New South Wales Government co-educational school for years 7-12. Within this school environment, are mainstream and special education departments. During my time at Glendale Technology High School, I was employed as a student learning support officer (SLSO), within the mainstream department. My roles included supporting several students from various year groups in their dedicated subjects such as Mathematics, English, PE and many more. Furthermore, I had to collate evidence of how the individual students had progressed with my support. The opportunity to work in a secondary school setting overseas has allowed me to engage various students with different backgrounds, religions and needs. I particularly learnt and gained more knowledge about many aboriginal students and their backgrounds. It allowed me to see how a secondary school overseas operates daily and how they engage their students. Skills and knowledge I have developed during my time at Glendale Technology High School include behaviour management strategies, subject knowledge and adaptability.
CER Education provides opportunities for professional people experienced in a school environment. During my time working with CER Education, I worked with a range of ages ranging from 2 years old to 11 years old, with varying needs, abilities and backgrounds. My duties included assisting the class teacher in ensuring any work was prepared before the start of the day allowing the pupils to learn effectively. Furthermore, ensuring that all pupils felt safe and included in the classroom environment they were in by following all school policies such as: safeguarding, first aid, inclusion and many more. Much like my time throughout my teacher training, I demonstrated high quality, professional behaviours, effective behaviour management strategies, various assessment methods and a high understanding of the importance of safeguarding.
As a multi-sports coach at DF Coaching-Next Level Coaching, my roles and responsibilities included school work in various schools in Teesside and delivering sport for Lisa McGee Education Holiday Activity and Food Programme, which were held at schools in Teesside located in socially deprived areas. As a multi-sports coach at DF Coaching, I predominantly worked at Preston Primary School in Eaglescliffe. While at Preston Primary School, I delivered PE lessons focusing on Football, Cricket and Multi Skills that developed fundamental movement skills. Other responsibilities included ensuring an adult safely collected all children who attended PE sessions and could take them home. Furthermore, I designed and delivered progressive and adaptive lessons in sports such as Football, Cricket and Multi-skills to all year groups from years 1-6 that were safe, fun, and engaging for all abilities. To allow me to carry out these sessions, I ensured I held the correct insurance documents and an enhanced DBS to carry out these sessions. When delivering PE sessions, I needed to implement different behaviour management strategies to enable all pupils to make progress. I attended regular CPD to develop my behaviour management strategies and PE knowledge. Applying my knowledge of different sports to these PE sessions enabled pupils to discover a passion for various sports and, hopefully, a passion for life.
Niche Education provides opportunities for professional people experienced in a school environment. While working with Niche Education, I was a teaching assistant/ 1 to 1 support in an alternative provision school called River Tees Multi Academy Trust (RTMAT). RTMAT provides education opportunities for pupils ranging from 7 to 16 years old who have been either excluded or permanently excluded from their original schools for various reasons. During my time at RTMAT, my duties included assisting the classroom teacher in preparing any work at the start of the day, allowing the pupils to learn effectively. Working as a one-to-one to support pupils who either could not access the learning in a full classroom or struggled to regulate their emotions in a full classroom. Furthermore, ensure that all pupils feel safe and included in their classroom by following all school policies such as safeguarding, first aid, and inclusion. Working in an environment where pupils have different backgrounds, beliefs, family environments and needs has allowed me to enhance my communication, flexibility, and problem-solving skills when asked to do so in challenging situations. Much like my time in school settings, whether paid employment or voluntary, I demonstrated high quality, professional behaviours, effective behaviour management strategies, various assessment methods, and a strong understanding of the importance of safeguarding.
DCM Education provides opportunities for professional people experienced in a school environment. During my time working with DCM Education, I was employed as a teaching assistant in an alternative provision school called Keys Tees Valley College, which provided education opportunities for pupils ranging from 11 to 16 years old who have been either excluded or permanently excluded from their original schools due to varying reasons. During my time at Keys Tees Valley College, my duties included assisting the classroom teacher in preparing any work at the start of the day, allowing the pupils to learn effectively and ensuring that all pupils feel safe and included in their classroom environment by following all school policies such as safeguarding, first aid, inclusion and many more. Working in an environment where the pupils are older and slightly more challenging than my placement at RTMAT, who also have different backgrounds, beliefs, family environments, and needs, has allowed me to enhance my communication, confidence and problem-solving skills when asked to do so in challenging situations. Much like my time in school settings, whether paid employment or voluntary, I demonstrated high quality, professional behaviours, effective behaviour management strategies, various assessment methods, and a strong understanding of the importance of safeguarding.
As a trainee teacher, my duties and responsibilities included teaching core and foundation subjects to year groups in key stages 1 and 2, which required progressive and adaptive planning and resources to allow progress. Participating in centre-based and placement-based training and various lectures and CPD opportunities have allowed me to develop my pedagogy, assessment, behaviour management and professional behaviours. Alongside planning, teaching, and evaluating lessons, I have written three assignments ranging from adaptive practice to effective behaviour management. All this has allowed me to enhance and develop teaching practice.
Due to my manager gaining promotion at Tees Valley St Patricks Catholic Primary School, they were keen to allow me to deliver PE lessons at their school Sport. As I would be self-employed at St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, I was required to set up my own company and ensure I had a suitable company DBS to deliver PE lessons. While at St trick's Catholic Primary School, I delivered PE lessons focusing on Football, Cricket, Basketball, Dodgeball and Multi Skills that developed fundamental movement skills. Other responsibilities included ensuring an adult safely collected all children who attended PE sessions and could take them home. Furthermore, I designed and delivered progressive and adaptive lessons in sports, such as to all year groups from years 1-6, that were safe, fun, and engaging for all abilities. To allow me to carry out these sessions when delivering PE lessons, I needed to apply different behaviour management strategies to enable all pupils to progress and form strong, positive and respectful relationships with the children and the staff. Due to St . Patrick's Catholic Primary School being a catholic school, unfortunately, they could not find any more funds to employ me as a multi-sport with their school. Consequently, I used effective ICT skills to create a highly engaging advert to promote TB coaching. I also used social media platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn to reach potential employers. Due to my effective and creative use of ICT, Preston Primary School was happy to employ me as a sports coach on separate days when I delivered PE lessons for DF Coaching.
As a casual football coach/assistant at Teesside University, I delivered casual football sessions 4 hours a week. I provided Teesside University students, who were predominantly international, the opportunity to participate in casual football sessions with no expectations. After delivering these sessions, I was responsible for locking up the Astro Turf, where the sessions were held and cleaning and putting away the used equipment. Furthermore, I oversaw and officiated the Teesside University 7 Aside football league. Within this, my roles included creating a poster to advertise the league, placing teams in a league, creating a fixture list, finding teams for players, collecting money and officiating games. This allowed me to meet people from different backgrounds, beliefs and ethnicities.
As a multi-sports coach at Tees Valley Sport/YES Coach, my roles and responsibilities included school work and working at Middlesbrough MELA summer fun. Within Tees Valley Sport, I predominantly worked in St. Patrick's Catholic Primary School, ensuring an adult safely collected all children who attended PE sessions and could take them home. Furthermore, I designed and delivered progressive and adaptive lessons in sports such as Football, Cricket, Rounders, Basketball, Multi-skills, and Dodgeball 1 to 6 that were safe, fun, and engaging for all abilities. To allow me to carry out these sessions, I ensured I held the correct insurance documents and an enhanced DBS to carry out these sessions. When delivering PE sessions, I needed to implementvital different behaviour management strategies to enable all pupils to make progress. I attended regular CPD to develop my behaviour management strategies and PE knowledge. Applying my knowledge of different sports to these PE sessions enabled pupils to discover a passion for various sports and, hopefully, a passion for life. I set up many activities in the Middlesbrough MELA summer fun, including football, cricket, golf, tennis, volleyball, swing ball, relays, and connect 4. As this project was highly successful, I participated in an interview conducted by BBC Tees to discuss the project's success. This experience allowed me to develop new life skills as different children with different backgrounds, abilities, and, best of all, fantastic personalities attended the project.
